Everything you need to know before your first appointment.

Common questions
Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist?
No referral is needed to book a physiotherapy appointment at Rehab Lab. You can book directly online or by phone. If you're using a Medicare EPC plan, you will need a GP referral — but for a standard appointment, just book in directly.
Do you accept private health insurance?
Yes — we have HICAPS on-site, so you can claim your private health rebate on the spot. Bring your health fund card to your appointment.
Do you accept Medicare EPC plans?
Yes. We accept Medicare Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plans, which allow eligible patients to receive up to 5 subsidised physiotherapy sessions per calendar year. You will need a referral from your GP to access this.
Are you NDIS registered?
Yes, Rehab Lab is NDIS registered. We work with both plan-managed and self-managed NDIS participants. Contact us to discuss how we can support your plan goals.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Bring any relevant imaging (X-rays, MRIs, scans), your private health card if applicable, and wear comfortable clothing that allows access to the area being treated. If you have a referral or EPC plan, bring those too.
How long is an initial appointment?
Initial appointments are typically 45–60 minutes. This includes a full assessment, movement screening, diagnosis, and the beginning of your treatment plan. Follow-up sessions are usually 30–45 minutes.
What is shockwave therapy and does it hurt?
Shockwave therapy uses high-energy acoustic waves to stimulate healing in damaged tissue. Most patients feel a dull aching or pressure during treatment — it's generally well tolerated. Any discomfort typically subsides within 24 hours, and most patients notice progressive improvement over 3–5 sessions.
What's included in the complimentary wellness add-ons at Georges Hall?
Every physiotherapy session at Georges Hall includes complimentary access to one of: Red Light Therapy, Infrared Sauna, or Normatec Compression boots. Your clinician will recommend which is most appropriate, or you can choose based on preference.
Do I need experience for Reformer Pilates?
No prior Pilates experience is necessary. Our sessions are individually assessed and programmed by an accredited exercise physiologist — so whether you've never done Pilates or are experienced, sessions are tailored specifically to you.
How do I cancel or reschedule an appointment?
Please give us at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule. You can call us on (02) 9145 0204 or manage your booking through the online booking portal.
